許冠傑

到唱片公司閒逛,先見到許冠傑的新專輯,封底那張谷起手臂的玉照實在趕客。唱片叫「人生多美好」,實在也配服他那十年如一日的樂觀主題,九七那時不是已經大唱「話之你九七」嗎?那種不理客觀存在現實而流於表面的感情依據,不也是「香港精神」的另類演繹嗎?稍後唱片店傳來他新碟的歌聲,仍然承接「話之你九七」里所謂市井生活的描寫,但這種「找朋友吹水食飯唱K」的世態和現世的香港價值又有何連繫呢?許冠傑紆尊處優多年,雖云他老人家也經常緊貼時態,但也僅限於去街市買菜又或去大排檔食魚旦粉這個層面吧。這十多二十年間香港的價值觀念經歷過幾多的變化,產生多少的旁支雜碎,許冠傑當然是不能掌握。你看90年的「香港情懷」一直延續下來的賣溫情,賣香港是福地(因為有美食有好戲睇有K唱有酒飲有機打),賣所謂市井風味,到了2007年的今天仍然會有市場嗎?單單近期興起的保育運動,也不是單單講懷舊講有feel,而是由學術源流及有血有肉的民間故事交叉組成的有機體。許冠傑仍停留在「香港咩都有」的自我中心,極其量只能予同年齡的樂迷一次懷舊的情感渲泄,在新世代中宣揚這種大香港意識實在無以為繼。更何況新曲詞曲的不濟,要懷舊何不聽回「等玉人」及「父親的鋼琴」?

許冠傑對香港世情的探視由來已久,現在這種老油條狀態顯然是「非不能,實不為也」。自己差不多在八十年代末才聽到「鬼馬雙星」,估不到七十年代的香港社會氣氛會容得下一首如此俗套卻又傳神的歌詞,就連「扮蟹賴野」都給填上了。「天才與白痴」那種對比結構,層層遞進,到了數「好野流野」時則更天馬行空不依旋律rap出來,突如其來的變化殺個措手不及,也使那種正在罵人的情感得到最極致的發泄。許冠傑也經常緊貼社會現況,崇日之時又會有首「日本娃娃」,beyond達明太極一哄而上時又會有一首「潮流興夾band」,而且早於八十年代中期,以主流歌手的身份唱「封佢做偶像」以基佬強的乸型型象談同性戀,雖然仍存狹窄思想,但至少是一以普通市民視角出發的柔性探討。我曾試過面對羅文的「幾許風雨」及許冠傑的「心里日記」而拿不下購買的主意,最後我都選了「幾許風雨」,全因另一首「浪淘沙」,而「心里日記」則只有「心里日記」罷了。

俱往矣。以往社會的單純性造就了許冠傑的一言堂,大家都是咬緊家關拼搏向上,難得聽到許冠傑幫他們吐一口怨氣,心情自然大為好轉,成為萬人景仰的歌星自然水到渠成。然而歌神來到二十一世紀,先不論流行曲發展到如何乖張如何私密的感情面相都可以一一照顧,單單讓辛苦的港人娛樂的途徑就已多如牛毛,況且他(或者可以是:商人、政府?)真的認為我們只喜歡表面風光和無關痛癢,而把那些值得思考和正視的稜角都視而不見嗎?

This sentence perhaps indicates your lack of understanding to Sam Hui's music. Aside from your opinion of Sam's current album, which is of course subjective, there're many mistakes in your blog entry that misled less knowledgeable readers.

For example....

- While 「封佢做偶像」is a funny take on the stereotypical homosexual lifestyle, the last paragraph of the lyrics actually makes fun of so-called mainstream lifestyle. In fact, 達明一派's 陳少琪 wrote an article in "Music Bus" praising Sam's lyrics. Also, Sam is not the first mainstream singer to touch on the topic of homosexuality....鍾鎮濤 (Kenny Bee) has a song about this topic in his 1984 album 我行我素 called "壞了的指南針" with lyrics by 向雪懷.

- The lyrics of "浪淘沙" and "心裡日記" are about 2 different topics. If you want to listen to a song of Sam's about the same topic as Roman's "浪淘沙", try "真金不怕熊爐火"....it's only 2 songs away from "心裡日記" on the "最緊要好玩" album.
